Exactly. My entire family consists of hard-right super religious loonies and what you said is spot-on.

My parents are incredibly racist and once my dad said “you can’t even say n****r anymore, thanks to liberals” and I said “you can say whatever you want but there is a social consequence” and he said “yeah the social consequence happened because of liberals”, but every single year he rages about the “war on Christmas” and throws a fit because some people say “happy holidays” instead of “merry Christmas”.

Really what he wants but doesn’t realize it, is the freedom to be a complete asshole without any social consequences.
