Trump and "speaking honestly" about Islam

I was just thinking about this. I think I personally dont care (or dont care very much) when Trump does this stuff vs Obama because I dont respect Trump/I dont expect anything of him. I was never under the impression he would have any cogent policy towards the middle east/I dont expect or want him to really attempt to push the rock of progress forward on this issue. Obama was capable of making progress in this arena, I think Trump just isnt.

Before people jump down my throat this in no way should be read as an apology for Trump/Im not saying Trump is any less worthy of criticism. Im just being honest that, IMO, considering how bad his speech could have been Im more or less happy that no international incident was created. I actually dont think I want Trump to try and be the person that undertakes the task of being of taking a harder line about the doctrine of Islam and the need to reform it while still understanding the importance of being accepting of Muslims in Western culture... its a nuanced conversation that could go south very easy if someone isnt disciplined and consistent about the message... not really Trumps strong suit.
