Unpopular Opinion : Premed edition

I think while the MCAT is a good system to have (objective measure to resolve UG difficulty variance), the reliance on a few points is ridiculous to determine candidate competitiveness. Just a couple points near 508 represent HUGE percentile differences over what could literally be one or two more questions correct. I’ve seen multiple people yolo the test with no past indication of being strong in science/reading, very little prep, and lacking most prereqs of content with 520+. The same people were going out multiple days a week in their sororities. I’ve also seen really gifted students fail to break 510+. The only reason I’ve seen people do extremely well is because they are good at standardized tests, and why the F should thay dictate whether someone goes to a top tier school vs mid tier school.
