Using Sailing as an Alternative Trading System, searching for feedback!

Good idea in theory OP, but an absolutely terrible idea in practice. This wouldn't be a money sink lol, it would just further inflate the cost of items. Markets always adjust; if you add a trade tax on vendors they will adjust their ask price to compensate for the tax. As such, items with inelastic demand like resources will see an increase in price, and while elastic goods like Elys should theoretically drop in price, they wouldn't because there is enough incentive (millions of gp) to trade it yourself. Now, im sure most of you were probably about to bust out a comment arguing that the virtual economy is not a real economy and thus the currency isnt re-injected, making my argument invalid over the long term; true, to some degree. Over the long term the price listed for resources should, in theory, fall. Which would be freighting possibility as it would lead to a deflationary spiral. Fortunately, Runescape has safeguards in place to stop that from happening; alching and shops, among others. Prices fall -> alching compensates -> Markets adjust. You see, when I see people in Runescape complaining about crazy inflation, me gets a chuckle chuckle chuckle because not only is inflation in RS relatively good for a virtual economy, but INFLATION IS FAKING GOOD! So long as the price of goods increases with the inflation of currency. By adding a tax, you'd be increasing the cost of items that cant be purchased from a store and dumping massive amounts of gold out of the economy from both the taxes and the lack of alching. Point is: The game economy is fine, other than a few insanely overpriced items (but that is because they are under-obtained). And if you're really concerned with the op items, just vote yes on all the expansion polls. New items re-distribute dat $$$, and you can start by voting for the new sailing proposal ;).
