Utah—Yes, Utah—Has Approved a Ballot Initiative to Curb Gerrymandering

You basically shut down all conversation with Republicans, Libertarians, and all flavors of Leftist as soon as you mention gun control though.

It may be very important to the Democratic Party, however, those Democratic representatives have to do well enough with the unaffiliated to keep their office.

In my state 40% of the active voting population are unaffiliated, we also had the second highest turnout in the country, and consistently high turnout in past elections. We’ve solidly voted Democrat for president for more than a decade.

Yet a city that passed an assault weapon ban had 6 hours of public comment, and over 80% of that was vehemently opposed. Everyone from rifle clubs to park rangers to local security persons and citizens. Of course, the city passed it anyway, because that’s just kinda their MO, but it was clear enough the papers picked up on it.
