I’ve loved every single change they’ve made from the classic to the modern Doom... except for the Cyberdemon. So I decided to paint my own homage!

Sorry to post late, but given your background I feel the need. Early warning, I consider D3 a masterpiece and is easily in my top 10. There's a hell of a lot of environmental storytelling in D3 that isn't explicit at all. The Cyberdemon design is one those bits of storytelling, although admittedly a weak boss to end on.

This Cyberdemon from D3 is clearly not a natural demon from Hell. Most demons in the game are 100% organic, with the Mancubus, Revenant and Pinky as the only exceptions, with the first two totally organic apart from their weaponry. You can draw a lot from that information in the context of the game.

If you haven't played Doom 3 since the mid 00s, I implore you to play it again. I just finished a Nightmare run and had an absolute whale of a time. It has aged like a fine wine with the onslaught of 90s-inspired game design that we are currently having, which is interesting / fun / fashionable now but was boring and overplayed in 2004. It ironically came out 10-15 years too early. I sometimes wonder how it would be received if it were released now with people lusting after indie (even AAA) Half-Life clones.

But hey, what do I know? Imo D2016 was "lackluster and boring" and a massive step backwards in trying to imitate the originals but failing to be anywhere near as versatile when it came to gameplay and *especially* atmosphere. It felt like a parody, not a remake. Therefore my opinion probably counts for nothing. :D

There's a reason Tricks and Traps wasn't one of those incorrectly / badly textured and proportioned Classic Maps in D2016 - the game (and probably engine) literally can't do it, just to name one example. It can't have a Cyberdemon and Spiderdemon infight either.

Anyway! I love your work! Thank you so much!
