I want to be funny.

I recommend watching Sitcoms like Friends and The Office US and notice the following:

No spoilers for either show.

In Friends, the funny one is Chandler, but notice that only their friends appreciate his sarcasm, as if you use it with your acquaintances they will think you see them as stupid.

Also he cracks joke after joke which in real life may we annoying to some people, because they won't take you serious so they won't share secrets or ask you for advice which is the quintessential of friendship.

Another character is Ross who at the end of the show starts making fun of himself, this is the best kind of joke, because it doesn't hurt anybody and you can see that your peers are laughing with you rather than at you, also you can focus the joke so it elevates people around you which will make them feel better.

In the Office US the boss called Michael, wants to befriend everybody in his Office. Now besides the fact that it is meant for comedy and that none of the characters are normal people, everyone is tired of their jokes, not only because these are in the work space, but because they come as forced.

What I am trying to say is that you should only use sarcasm with your real friends and not many times, you should not crack joke after joke 'cause they won't take you serious and you must find whether the situation requires some humor, for example don't do it at a funeral, save it for example for the day before the exam.

I think this may help.
