A very heated argument in /r/HarryPotter over whether Dumbledore was a biased prick or not

I guess I'll write the dissenting opinion in this thread, because there seems to be some big fire going on here.

At face value, The HP series isn't bad. I'm not getting into the lore, or the Wizarding World, or the spin-offs. I'm talking about books 1-7. They are a fine children and young adult series that has some pretty complex themes on race relations, and decent messages.

I feel like there is a HUGE revisionist history going on now with the series because Rowling went off the deep end with her views. Before she was a rags-to-riches success story, then she was a meme for ret-conning things on twitter, and now people LOATHE her and everything she's ever written. People talk about separating the art from the artist all the time, but I don't think it's a practice that one actually does.

I read HP as a kid (and as an adult too) and it provided me with an escale to everyday life. So, I'm absolutely going to read them to my daughter one day when she's older.
