Do you want to be a videogame designer? Why or why not ?

No. Ventures in the arts are extremely competitive and rarely successful. Video game design requires much more time commitment before being able to produce a marketable product (in terms of indie game production) vs say graphic design or painting, for example. Since most things like this require a lot of failure before succeeding, that’s a pretty big risk I’m not into.

As someone who was accepted into a competitive art school and left on my own accord: I don’t adhere to the “do what you love” idea, because doing art/design commission work for clients is a fucking niiiiiightmare. Doing “what I loved” turned into hating what I loved and then I had nothing left. I’m much happier working a more stable, more lucrative career that gives me the free time to pursue what I love as a hobby.

But I’m painfully pragmatic.
