Say I wanted to earn a legal 200k salary and remain in nz. What would I have to be doing?

You get maybe a $200k salary if you are a CEO or CTO in a tech company. Or maybe a remote software engineering role for an US company.

Most people that 200k+ probably don't earn salaries but work as contractor or run their own company. The downside of this is that you often don't work fulltime all year and spend crazy amount of times negotiating / dealing with clients that is unpaid.

I could in theory earn more than $200k but I likely would need to hire an assistant to manage the business & accounting side of it so I can focus solely on software development.

If I would earn the maximum amount of money I would go for software engineering / computer science + business. Throw some cloud, blockchain, next-tech startup bla bla into your CV
