Water Cooler Wednesday

So just kind of want to vent about something that has been bothering me and can't really share with any of my other friends... I have one particular friend who is an extremely staunch conservative and has basically been poking fun at liberals for the past eight months about a variety of things. Anyway he asks me the other day about political stuff and why I think the way I do about them (gun control, healthcare, military spending, free education, etc) so I told him my reasons. He then goes on a diatribe about how he shouldn't have to pay for lazy fat people's education and healthcare, how the military is the only thing keeping Russia and China from invading us, and how I'm a communist for going against the second amendment. Going on and on about how these people are leeches/parasites on the system, etc.

Which strikes me as ironic, because this guy almost failed out of high school, didn't get any scholarships to go to school so then decided to join the national guard and get his education paid for... and then takes a government job he got through his national guard connections and brags about how he sits around all day not doing anything and how his organization spent an ungodly amount of money on something useless last year to keep their budget the same. And then he brags about how awesome his tricare coverage is and how it shits on everyone else's insurance...

So I guess he thinks government paid education is fine when it's him, but it's not fine when it's everyone else? I guess government provided healthcare is fine when it's him, but not when it's everyone else? I guess we need to spend that money on the military when you sit there jerking off all day and buying expensive shit you don't need? Like I just don't understand how he doesn't see the massive hypocrisy...
