Kind of a sensitive topic for me, but has anyone experienced/have parents who believe in urine therapy?

My mom pushed me to do this a couple of times when I was a kid (not drinking it but rubbing it in my hair when my hair was thinning). It's something I feel really conflicted about since I knew it was gross at the time, but I also know this is supposed to be a really well-known Ayurvedic treatment and I feel like I can't feel that bad about it, since it's "normal"/a lot of people take it seriously as medicine and it didn't really hurt me physically. But I also won't ever tell friends about it (even desi friends) since they would probably see it as pretty gross or even abusive even though I know my mom wasn't doing it as some sort of deviant practice.

Just hard to wrap my mind around especially since my mom prides herself on how independent and well-educated she is. Sigh.
