Any tips/thoughts/advice on training a puppy while splitting two houses? We just found out we are getting a golden retriever puppy in 8 weeks. We are very excited but have some housing issues that we want to make sure we appropriately address from the get go. We currently live separately and will for the first 4 or so months of having the pup. For that time, pup will primarily be at my boyfriend’s apartment but will be at my house some. After 4 months, we will all live together full time at my house. With big city traffic, the drive between our two houses right now is 30 minutes to an hour+. We currently split our time pretty evenly between the houses but I expect we will largely spend weekdays at his place and weekends at mine with the dog. Any tips on handling raising the puppy while splitting houses at first and on the transition to my house? Should we get a crate for each house or bring the crate back and forth (we both have SUVs so this is doable)? Thanks!
