The only way to change peoples perception of you is for you to change your perception of yourself. Confident people don't call themselves ugly. Just because you don't look like a magazine doesn't mean you are ugly. Most people don't look like a magazine cover.

If you start working on yourself, you need to do it for yourself. This will make you more attractive. Not looking better. But the fact that you care about yourself and have confidence will result in you being more attractive. When you hate yourself and are depressed, people can smell that on you. If you are depressed, talk to someone about it. Start working on that and get some help. The hardest step is getting started when it comes to counseling. Just take the plunge and start working on yourself. You have to be your own advocate and cheerleader a lot of the time.
