This is the kind of ideal that sounds nice until it's given heavier thought than the surface level. There's many cultures that think a husband can't be held accountable for what he does to 'his' wife, or that it's okay to abandon your children if they're gay. I don't think that's an acceptable cultural difference.

I'm not saying we should go to war with that kind of culture or outlaw those beliefs, but I'm not going to just thoughtlessly say that I'm okay with it. I understand some of my beliefs are subject to criticism too, but I think saying we should accept everyone is just a slightly turned around "Everyone should accept me." Not everyone is compatible and I don't think it makes sense to pretend we are. It's a good thing we've got a big planet.
