What do you (or did) want to name your kids?

Well, originally I wanted a girl named Zacharie. I love that name, but I thought it was way too common for boys.

Then I met my fiancé. And we decided I would stay with him and we intend to raise our children in Japan. We want them to feel normal at school, so we decided on Japanese first names, and English middle names, which will be unofficial (the Japanese government doesn't allow middle names).

If we have a girl in 2020 (we're going to start trying in 2019), then we'll name her Nozomi Athena (望海 アテナ). I really like the name Nozomi, it means hope and we paired it with Sea, because she'll be flying over the ocean a lot. Maybe dumb, but I like it. And Athena is in honor of the 2020 Olympics (I hate the name Olympia).

If we have a boy, his name will be Sora Cole (宇宙 コール). My fiancé is a big fan of Kingdom Hearts, but he doesn't like the kanji (空) which can either mean sky or empty. So, we looked in the baby book and saw "space" can be used instead. Which I loved.

Now, this is where I get really stupid but... You know how Rs and Ls are the same in Japanese? Okay, so "Cole" and "Core" are the same. And... I really like Space Core from Portal 2.
