What is a fashion trend you dislike/don't understand? Redditors who wear that fashion, why do you like it?

Ohh man, I like high-waisted everything..! Pants, shorts, skirts...

I'm a relatively recent convert, though! Throughout my teens I hated high-waisted stuff, too, I used to think that high-waisted looked dowdy and old fashioned, so I wore those low-rise jeans that were fashionable at the time...and they never fit me very well. Lower-rise pants that fit my hips would gape at the waistband, and you could basically look down my ass crack. One solution was to belt it in...but that created a terrible, bunchy, cinched region right at the top of my butt. It looked pretty weird, so instead I would wear jeans maybe a size or two too small to try and get a closer fit in the waistband...but this just squeezed my butt in weird ways, and it was uncomfortable.

After years of smooshing my bubble butt into pants that just did not fit, a friend insisted I try on a pair of high-waisted jeans...and I've never gone back! They just flatter my natural shape better, and it's easier to fit both my butt and my waist. I like that when I wear something high-waisted, you can see the sweep of the curve between my butt and my back, versus it being hidden by a gap in the waistband or under a cinchy-belt situation. A feature that used to be the bane of my existence became one of my favorite assets...all because of a change in clothing cut.

So what my love of high-waisted stuff comes down too is dressing for my body type instead of for fashion. It looks better and it's more comfortable to wear clothes that fit---even when high-waisted is no longer 'on trend', I'm still gonna be rocking it. But I can see how the cut wouldn't work for everyone, just like low-rise stuff is really uncomfortable for me and doesn't do me any favors.
