What was the first thing you worked for to save up enough money to buy?

My semester fees :)

I know in the States and some more places the students put themselves through college by saving up from jobs so this isn't anything special, but from where I am from, parents usually pay for the college.

So earning enough on the side to tell my parents that I wanted to pay this semester's fee was a milestone I'd been looking forward to since a long time :) I had to kinda convince both of them (and my elder sister was all like "you should've saved that money the economy isn't very positive right now", which I agree it isn't, but the way I see it, years from today when life would hit me hard enough to knock the air out of my stomach and make me feel worthless all again, I'd look back and remember I was worthy once :)

Again, I know what I did was completely different from students who put themselves through college entirely with their hard earned money, they have it so much harder than me and I have mad respect for them.
