What is glorified in our society but shouldn’t be?

Dads being praised for literally doing the bare minimum for their own kids.

Don’t get me wrong, my partner is an amazing father and we’re generally quite good at sharing the household/parenting duties but it’s when people (from friends & family to actual strangers) praise him for doing stuff like changing our son’s diaper or even pushing his buggy, that I get really bitter. Not towards my partner but just people in general.

I had a random woman in Starbucks tell me how lucky I was as she watched my partner take our son into the baby changing facilities so I could sit and finish my drink. Lucky? No. He’s just his dad. Doing what dads should do.
