What historical fact makes you cry?

Been working as a therapist for 10 years. Most people recover if they have good therapy and life changes. Every person I have worked with has recovered and I work with people with very severe PTSD, psychosis, etc. Even the most injured can recover. They need help to do it. There is no and never will be a magic bullet or a one size fits all intervention.

Most therapists have very little training besides DBT/CBT now. And most psychiatrists don't believe in recovery at all. Hence we have a majorly medical driven model which decontextualizes people's suffering. I don't believe in providing coping therapy. I help people understand where there trauma is coming from, and how to process in a way where they can and do recover and move from suffering to closure and renewal. I think the major issue with MH treatment is that the treatment is now mostly just stabilization - not recovery. I know very few therapists who have been trained in meaning making therapies. Most now are just trained in surface level work.

I'm glad some psychedelic treatment is being investigated and MDMA being added to psychotherapy. I just hope the right therapy is provided along with it.
