What do you think of the idea of regulating the first amendment?

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Just for clarity.

The guns they talked about when this was written fired single shots with very long reload times. Guns today, as with all other technology, have advanced far past that. Times change, and so the law needs to adapt to that change. Look at copyright law, there is no way those old regulations can keep up with the current scope of available media. We need adjustments to deal with what is available now.

But don't get my words twisted, I want people to own guns. I want to own one. I just want more training and practice. If people want to own them, they should completely and wholeheartedly understand what it is to own, maintain and use properly. We don't require CCW here in my state, but I'm going to go to the class anyway. I'll pay for the license. Because I want the experience and training to know what I need to know.
