What was “the incident” at your school?

There were quite a few incidents at mine unfortunately. Because of bullying, drug use, overall mental health issues, the county I grew up in has one of the highest suicide rates in the nation. This is in Central Kentucky mind you, no seasonal depression or anything like that that you can easily blame it on. At any rate, at least once a year a high school student would commit suicide. Junior year of high school that was my best friend Travis, right before school started. My group of friends all got to come back to the school that never gave a damn when half the football team bullied him right in front of all kinds of teachers and administrators who would go as far as to threaten to suspend him if he even acted like he was going to fight back. Suddenly they all cared about him and it was just terrible and that lasted about 2 days before suddenly they forgot about it and everything was back to normal. A lot of people I went to school with still think it was fucked up and it comes up a lot in conversation but I doubt anything has been done about it.

Later that year or maybe the next year several LGBT students were asked by the principal to make a list of students who were bullying them because the school had a pretty serious problem with it and wanted to address it. Then another administrator(don't remember if it was a vice principal or what) found out about it, and hauled a couple of the girls, one of whom I was dating at the time, into the office threatening to expel them for it. The entire school was told they were creating a hit list. Of course the whole situation was swept under the rug when they realized that this could turn into a massive lawsuit not to mention criminal charges for discrimination. Unfortunately nothing ever came of that.

This last one is much more recent and happened just a few years ago while my little brother was in high school. Apparently three seniors(I think) went out on some BFE country road, then two of them robbed the third guy and shot and killed him. The shooter took the guy's blood stained driver's license as a trophy and was showing off and bragging about the murder at school the next day. All this over an ounce of weed. It was pretty sad watching my brother graduate and seeing the empty seat there in the middle of the crowd where that murdered kid would have sat.
