What makes communism a better system for this day and age?

I see no problem with internationalism. On contrary, I think that holding onto imagined borders drawn on political map is childish. There are far too many things that unite us than separate. Republican/conservative/rightist notion of conserving "traditions" by enforcing them and restricting learning will only harm their own cause. I have been living for a year in commune with 30 people from 15 countries. We had our problems with dishes and organisation and it was coincidental commune, not a planned one. But it was always heartwarming to see German-Polish and Armenian-Turkish relationships blossom into marriages. People became more aware of small differences we had in our cultures and did not rush to abandon everything. More people started to think about their traditions and picking the ones they want to carry on in their daily lives, rather than doing stuff only on calendar Conservative hatemongers will always convince uneducated and untravelled how "traditions", "genes" and "whiteness" is under threat.

Both systems - Western Capitalism and Soviet Authoritarianism were broken. Western Capitalism for working class suffered very much after collapse of Soviet Union - plutocrats waged war on Labour Union in US, moved factories for profit and currently are making people sick and hateful. US consumerism is in no way sustainable for globe or personal happiness. Soviets restricted basic freedom of expression and information. I am not here to find excuses for Soviet Imperialism and will probably be banned by mods for not being Marxist enough. State organised Communism is as bad idea as Western Free market economy. For me Socialism is all about freeing people from social needs, capitalist greed and installing far superior, locally organised planning and cooperation in a voluntary fashion.

Marinaleda does not have 59% youth unemployment. I am no expert and it was just an example. Many small farms in Germany, Romania and France are quite self-sufficient and not another gated communities. Soviet Union built a lot of crap housing too, just like everywhere you can find crap housing, even in US where they use splinters as a sane building material.

It will take a lot of education not regulated by the state and public awareness to make another communist revolution. The internet makes it much easier for both Kremlin sponsored and Washington sponsored rightist groups to spread their filthy agenda and stay in power for another term. It is very good that you participate in discussions and challenge ideas. Only ignorant fool is sure about himself, nobody is professional at living life. It is good to think critically and see what is root of the problem and reason behind the lies.
