What makes people want the government to be in charge of their healthcare?

Well, I was in Finland for a family reunion. My cousin and I watched an ambulance pull up on a person who passed out on the town square. 10min later we, (from the U.S.) asked our aunt what was taking so long. They explained that there, if an ambulance is called and they show up..if they can handle it and say, it's a case of heat exhaustion or they got dizzy, but are OK now..they leave. If it's serious a doctor will COME TO THE AMBULANCE, and determine the severity of the situation, BEFORE dragging a person to the hospital. Here, we just charge thousands for the call, another thousand for the ride to the hospital and another 10k for the emergency room. Its alllllll about $$$$$$$ and what medical pays towards campaign contributions.
