What moment in an argument made you realize “this person is an idiot and there is no winning scenario”?

One time at school during lunch, (13 at the time) a kid kept throwing a chip bag at me which he found very entertaining. I had asked him to stop multiple times and he would not listen. One time he threw it at my face and I hit it with my hand and the bag popped and the chips went everywhere. The teacher told us to clean it up and we both refused. He claimed that it would have been rasict since he is black (Jamaican) and I am white (Egyptian). I tried to explain to him that it wasn't my fault and he went on to explain how if you were being shot at and one of the bullets hit you it would be your fault that you got injured because you were unable to dodge the bullets. He somehow managed to get everyone at the table on his side and now I avoid talking to him.

One time even though he knows that I don't consider him a close enough friend to play rough with me, he pulled out a chair from under me and I fell on to the ground and kicked him in the mouth. (Didn't get in trouble since he started it).
