Back in my party days I was into cocaine pretty bad along with a couple other dudes. One dude ended up getting $50,000 from a settlement from an old injury right when we were at our worst. One night we end up at a hotel with a few other "friends" and were doing a half ounce as quick as we could muster; some snorting and some shooting.
One of the guys who was shooting came out of the bathroom mad and said he wasn't getting high anymore. We told him to stop, ended up forgetting about it, and went on partying. After awhile he comes out of the bathroom obviously high, walks out to the balcony, and promptly collapses; hitting his head on the corner of the air conditioners back side and splitting it wide open. We immediately knew what happened and dragged him inside the room. By this time he was flopping like a Marlin on the line and maybe frothing at the mouth.
You'll be shocked to hear that we collectively shit out pants and paniced. I got on the phone and called 9-11 and then we decided to get him out on the corner near the hotel entrance. 2 reasons for that: clean the room and easier for paramedics to find. I'm the only guy who didn't have a felony on my record so everyone else took off. I cooled my buddy a little bit with water, paramedics were there suddenly, and next thing I knew he was on a stretcher in the back. Then the paramedics turned their attention on me. Am I ok, what were we doing, etc. eventually stating that the cops were on the way. I said I needed to get a drink of water in the hospital, took off down the hallway, and got away. I wasn't trying to be interrogated by police and my buddy was in the care of paramedics.
I saw my buddy the next day. He had stitches on his eyebrow but was otherwise fine. I kicked the habit not long after that and he continued to use. 3 years ago he committed suicide by jumping in front of a train.
When I tried to find a number for our other friend so that I could inform him of the death and found out he died 6 months earlier. Heroin over-dose.
Anyways, TL;DR: saw a friend overdose by shooting too much cocaine.
