What quote from a fictional character has had a great impact on you?

"It gets easier. Every day it gets a little easier. But you gotta do it every day — that’s the hard part. But it does get easier."

Jogging baboon in Bojack Horseman. Ironically, it's good advice for almost everything in life except jogging (which you really shouldn't do more than a few times a week unless you want to fuck your lower body up pretty hard)

I saw it, like I've heard other people do, juxtaposed with the much earlier scene where Bojack says he doesn't understand how people just get up every morning with a positive attitude and go "ok, let's do this."

In my experience with depression, it's been exactly that. Every day it gets a little bit easier to see the world in a better light. But there's always that nagging bit of me telling me to give myself some slack, take a break, fall into old habits. The minute I do it all falls apart and it seems impossible to get back to where I was. Even doing simple things like brushing my teeth or doing my laundry seem like overwhelming tasks.

But it does get easier.
