To me the “importance” of this senate race emphasizes the ridiculousness of American politics. We’ve become so polarized as a nation, that Republicans and Democrats are fighting over 2 seats that will TIE the number of red and blue senators in congress.

It’s absolutely asinine that Americans expect and ACCEPT such extreme partisanship in the senate and furthermore congress. How did we arrive at this morbid polarization of the parties where VP Harris’s tie-breaking vote will decide whether most major policies pass or fail? How can we as Americans tolerate this behavior from the government officials who are supposed to be working for us the people?

What’s happening right now is not indicative of a healthy democracy. Something needs to change.
