What have you witnessed someone do that made you realize he/she is really, really smart?

This story is about me so I'm about to sound braggy, but I used to be super depressed (have had depression and epilepsy for over 10 years, and it's certainly much better now, but back in the day it was awful) and being hella overdosed without knowing it, so I was tired and out of it and never really paid attention, always almost falling asleep in class and barely making it on time, if at all.

I'd do my homework and leave it in my locker all the time. Like, every assignment was an A, but I never turned them in because I'd forget to go get them and then just be like "fuck it, the teacher said she doesn't accept late work, so whatever" and fall asleep at my desk. (Note: My locker was in another building and I went to a massive school - if I left class to go get my assignments it'd take 10 minutes to go there and grab them and 10 minutes to walk back... Making me miss most of class anyways haha it's no excuse but I was so tired all the time. I'm honestly curious about the possibility that my old meds were giving me spells because when I have them I forget everything lmao)

I ended up having to leave my high school in junior year to go to a therapeutic one, and less than a week later a few of my teachers e-mailed me about how they were sorry for talking down to me and shaming me in classes because they found my pile of completed work in my locker, and realized I was actually meant to be in AP classes all along. Ha.

Also, I scored a 14 on the ACT the first time (I'm telling you the amount of meds I was on was a mess and I couldn't stay awake for that shit.... Plus, I'd never studied for the ACT and was told I was going to take it the following year instead, which was actually a miscommunication on my high school's part, so I found out I was taking it at like 8pm the night before like my life story should be titled A Series of Unfortunate Events, to be honest) and then went off my meds and retook it, receiving a 34.

Needless to say, anyone who runs into me from high school assumes I was a stoner or whatever and is really really shocked by how I am now. Complete 180.
