I’m a male teacher. The guy who recruited me to come to my current high school turned out to be a predator, or at least highly inappropriate, to the female students. The principal of the school I left suddenly got demoted and sent to our school before being thrown out of the district entirely for being a predator. Then last month a student confided in me that a male teacher I sometimes have lunch with had slept with a former student when she was at the school. I felt like I had to report that and now that teacher is on leave while the investigation plays out. So I wouldn’t say it’s the worst one thing that happened at my school but a pattern is definitely emerging with male teachers that is troubling me, not the least of which is because my own daughter is due to attend next year.
