3. What would you do if your country fell into a dictatorship?

What would you do if your country fell into a dictatorship?

American currently weighing my options before 2024. I think it's possible that the US will become a dictatorship, and then some of the bluer states may end up seceding. Considering a bunch of options:

  1. Living abroad (researching what countries would be feasible for this and how to make it happen. I know it's not easy, but there are ways to do it.)
  2. I live in a blue area of a red state, and would consider moving to a blue state for more protection at the state level. My parents live in a blue state. Also, I was born in a different blue state that I think would be one of the first to break off, so that's where my citizenship would likely go at that point.
  3. Staying behind to help others who need it. Part of me would feel extremely guilty leaving though I have some options. I'm not sure that I should take a "spot" in a blue state or foreign country when people need them more than I do. I'm not talented enough for my skills to be in demand in another country, and I'm also not in one of the minority groups that would need protection the most, even though dictators eventually come for everyone.
