What is your worst experience with neighbors?

My neighbor in the last state I like ed in was an alcoholic. She and her live-in boyfriend would get into fights, and he'd beat her, then her son would come over and take her away. This happened repeatedly.

Finally, she got tired of it and called the cops. He went to jail. My sister, brother in law, and nephew came to visit one weekend. She came.over, knocked on my door and asked if I could drive her to the bank to get some money and then take her to the store so she could buy some beer. At this point, she was already so drunk she couldn't stand and was sitting on my front porch. I toldI had company, so no I wouldn't take her, but I always had beer and she could take a bottle or two, but that was it.

About two weeks later, I came home to find the door leading from my basement to my kitchen open. I didn't think much of it, and thought maybe the landlord had someone come over to work on the cranky furnace. I called and left a voicemail with him to ask about it, then went to grab some tea from the fridge. I noticed all of the limeritas my sister and I had bought were gone.

At first I was pissed. Then I laughed. I called my sister and filled her in. As I was telling her "I'm going to have to put a new lock on the latch for the basement door. That crazy lady stole your limeritas!" She asked if I was certain she didn't take anything else.

Suddenly, I got a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I had a small sterling silver plate, with a picture of my Great I grandmother and great I grandfather displayed in a frame on it, along with the last bottle of whiskey my great grandfather ever opened and a bottle of wine from 1985 he had left under the sink. My great grandfather died from cirrhosis, so alcohol was a passion of his.

Both the whiskey and the wine were gone. I went ape shit. I stormed out of the house over to hers, my sister still on the phone. That bitch was drunk as Cooter Brown. My sister was telling me I absolutely, under no circumstances was allowed to punch her.

I called the cops. He agreed she most likely did it, but she had thrown out the trash before he got there. He said she was shaking as he was questioning her and sweating. But. There was nothing they could do.
