What's the best luck you have ever had in your life?

When I was a senior in high school I won a used car at my prom.

 

To explain - it was a small, private Christian school. One of the families there owned a dealership and every year they would raffle off a used car to one of the seniors. I came from a very middle class family, so I was one of the only kids in my class that didn't have a car, and it was kind of having an influence on what I decided to do regarding college. I was actually considering buying one of my teacher's old POS beater because I just needed something to drive 10 miles or so to the local community college. I actually almost didn't even end up going to prom, but my sister's friend needed a date (junior) and she was cool so I asked her. It was hilarious, because leading up to prom night, everyone was telling me they hoped I won the car because I needed it, etc. and I was all yeah, that'll happen...

 

So cue the big reveal at prom. I'm sitting at my table, shoveling neapolitan ice cream into my gullet, and they pull my name and announce it mid-bite...and I just kind of look around and see everyone looking at me, clapping and whatnot. It was surreal, the only thing I've ever won and it was something that honestly helped pave the way for a pretty successful life now. I kept that car for 10 years, just having replaced it about 3 years ago when it finally died in the middle of downtown driving home from work!

 

Rest in Peace, Green Dragon. I still kind of think it was some sort of conspiracy.
