My SO and I moved states to live with a friend & his girlfriend while we got back on our feet. We had agreed to pay rent for a room in their house, and I trusted this friend, but I had never met his gf before. Once we got there, it seems they forgot to mention the that the girlfriend A). had a daughter who was still in high school (16/17) who also lived with them and, B). the daughter's boyfriend (who was about 28) also lived there. I was pretty pissed, to say the least, but what was I going to do? I had a pregnant wife & all of our stuff, and we had just uprooted to get a new start. Not my problem. I had other shit I needed to focus on.

But that's not what was crazy..... the crazy started when the baby arrived.

Friend's girlfriend kept dropping passive-aggressive hints that she wanted be in the hospital room when my wife gave birth (nope), and when our little one was born, the girlfriend would creep into our room while my wife was sleeping/recovering (I was at work), and take the baby just chill with it in the common area of the house. My wife frequently woke up to an empty crib, only find our housemate had the baby.

One day, when the baby is about 3 weeks old, my wife wakes up, and the baby is gone.. but everyone else in the house is also gone. She proceeds to call me at work, hysterical, and ask where our baby is. Not one of our housemates were answering their phones. I am also starting to panic, but just then, she says that our housemates are home and she'll call me back. I'm freaking out, but she calls back minutes later, completely furious.

Apparently, the girlfriend decided that she wanted to show off our baby to her friends at a get together they were having, took the baby's car seat from our car, took the baby from the crib while my wife was sleeping, and just left. No note, no asking, nothing. My wife also mentioned that our little one smelled strongly of cigarette smoke when they brought him back.

Needless to say, my wife and I stayed pretty much holed up in our room with the door locked for almost 2 months until we finally had a chance to have some of her family help us out so we could move the fuck out of there.

tl;dr: Moved in with a friend. Friend's girlfriend stole my wife's 3 week old baby.
