What's something your employer did that instantly killed employee morale?

There should be laws protecting workers safety and all that. In my opinion as an engineer I figure I already have a figurative “moat” in that in order for someone to replace me they would have to have a college degree and a couple months of training to add the same amount of value that I do. So if it would only make financial sense to fire me if someone was willing to work for way less than me or if I’m just really shitty at my job. It doesn’t seem fair to an employer to carry the burden of useless workers because the government says they have to. I also work with the government so I see every day what it’s like working with people that know they can’t get fired unless they commit time card fraud or look at porn at work. Of course if I worked in a lower skilled job I might think differently since I would only have a small competitive advantage over a fresh recruit.
