When did your "Something is very wrong here" feeling turned out to be true?

Fair few years back, I had a neighbour with a Staffordshire bull terrier, mind you these are normally very nice dogs, but this dude just treated his dog like shit so overtime, he would just release his dog into the neighbourhood playground and the dog would go nuts running around.

I had and have a small Yorkshire terrier, so I always triple checked when I brought my dog out for a walk in case the staff was out there. The thing is my dog always liked to sneak into the playground to run around, one time I'm out there and just a feeling so I grab my dog immediately and take it back in but not 30 seconds later, this dude releases his dog and it just starts chasing after me, so I ran back in in time, no harm done. Mind you this dude didn't even try to hold his dog back and didn't even apologise after but I was a young kid so you know whatever.

I warned my whole family to keep an eye out, the dog is vicious and what not, and bam couple days later I am outside again and my dog sneaks out to play only this time I have no time to react and this staff just runs out and just viciously attacks my dog, this staff is tugging at my dog's neck like nothing else and I'm doing everything I can to try to pull the staff off him whilst my neighbour just sits and watches before all my other neighbours come to the rescue.

Anyway, fast forward to an immediate emergency vet visit and massive vet bill later, my dog is doing fine (if not way more scared now) but had I not been aware, the staff would've killed him easily.
