[WP] I woke up with the voice of the lead singer from AC/DC. So did everyone else.

It's been a month since the incident.

Amongst most things that we loved and took for granted, music is dead.

Sure, it was funny for a week. You couldn't go through a fast food line without singing your order and having it sang back to you. But the novelty wore off pretty quick.

Last week a man was beaten to death for attempting karaoke.

Everyone clings to their records, tapes, mp3s like they're holy gifts from God. The government is working on ways to preserve the recordings of voices for future generations. The world has to know what it was like before..

It has been a year since the incident.

Elon Musk's line of voice synthesizers are the hottest selling item of the season. Everyone's desperately trying to recreate their old voice, the voices of their grandparents, the voices of their mothers.

Recordings of mothers singing are used to lull to babies to sleep. The world mourns for the new generation, to never have their own voice.

It has been 10 years since the incident.

Voice synthesizer programs are passed down like names. My son will sound like I did as a child, and like his grandfather when he reaches maturity.

Singing is still punishable by death.
