Throughout the expanse only two were there. Drifting, and consuming. They shared thoughts and eventually they sought to bring those thoughts to fruition. Though they were long living, they were not eternal. The source that powered them was divided. Wanting to live longer to see his plans come to fruition one killed the other. The result of the death was a cataclysmic blast. The corpse released matter into the expanse. The one remaining began to give shape to the matter and the planets and stars were created. However, as time drug on the One became lonely. From the matter he created an image of himself to hold council. Together the philosophized about the universe and all they could achieve but time came when the One would need rest. He fell into a deep sleep at the core of the world, which left the other alone. Like his Maker, he too became lonely and sought companionship and like his Maker he made another like himself. The One became three. The first created of the Maker would be called Heimal, and during the sleep cycle of the Maker he could go and give shape to the world. The Second, made by Heimal would be known as Ifflemar, he could breathe his life into all shapes and give them function. The three were the Maker, the Shaper and the Awakener. When Heimal and Ifflemar were done giving shapes and breathe to all the mountains, the trees and all the animals they sat back and marveled at their creation. One issue arose though, the world was stagnant and unchanging. They had made everything perfect and as such nothing could grow. It is at this time they introduced death and the first sentient creature. They created great winged beast with bellies of fire. These were known as the Dragon’s and it was there task to bring flame to the forest to allow new growth. The Dragons were led by a single male known as the Brood Lord and they carried out their task with honor.

Time came when the Maker himself would wake. He walked on the surface of the world and to his horror he found it a thriving place of life. He began to rampage across the world searching out Heimal. He who dared give life without permission. He rampage was ended when small winged creatures landed upon his frame. The birds sang songs and for the first time in his long life the Maker found peace. Heimal and Ifflemar arrived at the scene. In silence Heimal reached into the earth and shaped from the dirt and stone a being that resembled the Maker only much smaller. He added wings like the bird. He made another, almost exactly the same but a female. Ifflemar knowing his time was done breathed his last breath and gave life to the two creatures. The Maker had been sated. From Ifflemar’s body he carved out a shining city atop the mass that rested in the clouds and place the two beings there.

The Dragon’s continued their task of bringing flame to the world. However due to their only being one male and many females they became corrupt. Through time and inbreeding some of the Draogn spawn began to be born flightless and where once fire roared in their bellies only poison sat now. The Brood Lord gave order to his maidens that all corrupted spawn be slain. All had listened but one. She could not bring herself to slay her young and so she fled. She was hunted down by the other Dragon’s and once cornered they laid waste to her and her spawn. All died, except one. Hysis the Deceiver escaped and vowed vengeance on the other Dragon’s. A vengeance she would have. Though she was flightless, she was still powerful. Hysis hunted the Dragon’s one by one using tricks and poison until all were vanquished except for the Brood Lord himself who she kept prisoner to spawn her eggs.

The Chosen multiplied and lived a happy life in their shining city. Time came when the Maker had to sleep again and so he left his children and told them. Never leave this place. The Well of Knowledge will allow you to commune with me, the tree of life will keep you full, should you ever leave this city you shall surely die. All were happy in the shining city. However, there were three who stared out into the horizon constantly wondering what could be out there. Secretly, and without permission they left the city and flew down to the forest below. There Hysis was traveling the earth. She saw the three and became curious. She hid in the shadows and watched and learned from them and then using her dragon magic changed her form to theirs. She could not fly and so she feigned injury and the three found her and carried her back to the city. There Hysis lived with the Chosen and learned all they knew. Eventually she drank from the well and communed with the Maker himself. She learned of her lineage, the Dragon’s roll in life and how she should have never been born. Angered by this Hysis decided to wage war on the Chosen whom should not have privilege over her and her children. She left the Shining City and brought her Serpent to the mountain and there they climbed up and up until they reached the city. The Chosen did their best to hold the serpents off but they were no match for their size and power. One brave chosen fled to the well and drank and was the first to learn the way of war. Her name was Seraph and her people became the Seraphim. They learned the way of war and the power of nature. The Seraphim walked the storms as if they were born from it and wielded weapons of lightning. During that time, they cast the Serpents down and smote their corpses on the mountainside. Victory was at hand but Hysis was truly clever. She made her way back into the Shining City and there she dripped her poison into the well. All those who tried to commune with the Maker became corrupted as she had been born. They began to lose their wings, and became heavy like stone. She told them that they had cursed the people that all those who lost their wings were the ones who had left and brought this terrible curse on the Chosen and should be cast out and so they were.

The first men were the ones who were corrupted by Hysis poison. They were cast from the Shining City and made to walk the Earth far below the clouds as punishment for their sins. Some of the earlier had chosen instead to leap from the mountain and accept death rather than ever leave the city. Others left and made their way across the land. The humans spread like flame itself covering the land. To the North rose the First Clan. The First Clan came upon a sect of beings called the Tallmen and war broke out between the two. Eventually the war threatened both of their existences and so a peace was struck between the Tallmen and the First Clan.

Though Hysis had dealt a severe blow to the Chosen by corrupting their well, they were still not defeated. They wielded their power and fought hard holding the Serpents Back but were being overwhelmed. News had traveled of the spread of humanity and though the Chosen disliked the Oathbreaker’s they had no other options. There was a call for volunteers, those who would break the oath and leave the city. The three who had originally broke the oath had still not come forward and told of their betrayal. To make amends they came forward and volunteered to travel the earth and seek help. They were called heroes, but deep down they knew the truth of what happened. They left the city. The one who went to the Midland was turned away. The one to the south in the Summerlands too. In the North, though the First Clan and the Tallmen seeing the threat of the Serpents answered the call.

The Chosen, the First Clan and the Tallmen banded together in a great coalition. Together they defeated the Serpent horde and drove them off the mountain and from the Shining City. Hysis, refusing to admit defeat seduced several humans with power. They betrayed the coalition, but their betrayal failed. The Chosen cursed the betrayers to take the appearance of their Serpent lords and so they grew fangs. They were forbade from ever rejoining the Maker in death and so the Stricken were made.

The First Clan and Tallmen marched on the Serpent stronghold and fought hard to destroy it. In the final hour. Jorgmyr of the First Clan who lead the assault on the main cavern found the Brood Lord. The Brood Lord too weak to fight instructed Jorgmyr to open his belly up and release the flame. With this flame poured into the cave and scorched all the remaining serpents. The war was over, finally.

Ok... maybe to be continued, this went longer than I expected.
