As a 23 black male, I have never experienced any racism in my life and the BLM movement is taking away from voices like mine (US)

I’m black (can be verified), from Texas, a bit older than you working as a software engineer.

There’s nothing wrong with your view. You’re story is more common than you’d assume. It just sounds like your parents had the ability to shield you from a very real issue. That’s a privilege most who look like us were not afforded but one any parent would do for their kid.

The unfortunate reality is that although you haven’t experienced it yet, doesn’t meant things will always be that way. Those sympathetic comments you get, although you may not related with them, are made with good intention.
Accept them, move on, and try to give back to the community as you can.
