74% of Republican Voters Want Party to Stand by Trump

I feel you, to some extent. My mother watches Fox fairly often for what she claims is due to wanting to "see both sides." I have my own issues with CNN's 'neutrality,' but watching Fox isn't going to serve as a balancing measure for anything. I've explained to her that it's barely a news organization and plays fast and hard with the truth, but she's stubborn and watches anyway because she thinks it gives her a fuller picture of the election landscape. If you give her examples of fact checking that proves a statement on Fox to be biased or false, she'll just handwave you away as biased and annoying (the latter is probably true, since it can be irritating, but it's with good intent). It's gotten to the point where I can't have a political discussion with her because I feel like it raises my blood pressure (and I'm young lol). When someone's foundational knowledge is influenced by credible facts mixed in with lies from Fox, it's very hard to get through to them because they genuinely think they have a better grasp on the issues. It's also difficult because you don't always have time to spoonfeed people sources for correct information, especially when they're probably going to undo it by keeping Fox within their rotation for news channels.

Honestly my mother's resistance to moving on from Fox entirely (despite being told what a poor source of news it is) makes me think part of her enjoys watching it. She hates Trump, but I strongly suspect she was a Romney voter back in 2012. She'll never say for sure though since everyone else in the family my dad, brothers, and myself are left voters. Most everyone in my family has a graduate degree, too, but somehow my mother's politics are off lol. She really seems to prefer people in Romney's mold even though she'll be shifty about it if asked directly.
