80/20 NEEDS OUR HELP

Hell. I wrote a detailed post and it was lost. Let me say these insights are incredible- esp about As-Am orgs getting their agenda WARPED by needing to get grants from Liberal orgs which have an agenda of their own.

Let me also say I don't know if I believe the 80-20 approach. They claim minorities gain power by voting 80-20 and saying the Jewish community owes this approach to power but I think it's more fair to say that their power owes to financial contributions, media influence, and orgs like ADL. 80-20 claims to be non-partisan but in their top 10 accomplishments; it reads like an attack group on the GOP. It goes so far as to say, "A 2006 decision to make extra effort to reward D & punish R". They talk about enforcing 11246 labor code- but have these politicians done so? Or is 80-20 so enamored with the fact that politicians are responding to their questionnaire that they are willing to believe empty promises. They claim they opposed Bush but then Bush appointed the first 2 As-Am cabinet members -- and took credit for it?? They keep talking about swinging the vote for who best serves them but they alway seem to side with Democrats. At some point, who's to say we're not taken for granted just like blacks who give their vote to Dems automatically and therefore get nothing.

Having said all this, I do believe they have done some good stuff. I am cautious that they often seem to be a helper of one party- no matter what. Many As-Am orgs have criticized them saying things like:

Setting themselves apart during the 2008 presidential primary, the group’s PAC created waves within the AAPI community for running attack ads against Obama for supposedly refusing to answer their candidate questionnaire.

After consulting their bylaws and endorsement committee, the PAC eventually endorsed Clinton, who was the only candidate to complete the questionnaire. The group then ran a campaign to defeat Obama, who was only one of several candidates who did not complete the group’s questionnaire.

The whole thing makes me wonder why they claim to be responsible for more As-Am judges at the federal level, because of Obama. Obama did it, but there's no reason to believe he did it because of them.
