So, sex is like a carrot on a stick that evolution uses to get us to reproduce. (sex has other functions, of course, but all roads lead to inclusive reproductive fitness). For most of our history, it wasn't possible to fake sex, so sex and reproduction were nearly 1:1 enough for evolution to optimize that.

Evolution is slow compared to society/technology, but when you create a situation like we are now, there is the potential for an amazingly powerful selective pressure. In the long run, It's possible to expect people to start to have preferences about reproduction directly, rather than indirectly through sex.

I think it's more likely that culture can already provide the adaptation (evolution operates too slowly) and some ethnic/religious cultures which have a more direct preference for reproduction (family values, etc) starting to be selected for.
