There definitely can be winners in wars.

It just requires that the winners be ok with absolutely exterminating their opposition with extreme prejudice sufficient to ensure that nothing is left that can retaliate.

It's a sign of progress that most of our species isn't willing to do that sort of thing anymore. You should be happy about these messy outcomes where there's still people left in the country that was invaded and occupied. They still have their culture and language and religion and everything. They're literally just going back to the way they were before the US ever arrived.

Name another time in history where that happened before Vietnam.

And they're going back to the way they were after a twenty year long attempt to change them... LITERALLY IN THE SPAN OF A WEEK.
