AITA For Telling My Daughter That She Doesn't Really Have PTSD?

This will get lost in the comments but my parent’s never took my phobia of spiders seriously. I even had an experience where I was bit by one and had to go to the hospital to have the bite drained.

My parents always belittled it, telling me “they cant hurt you!” And “theyre so much smaller than you, theyre more afraid of you!” The worst was when I was asked to do my chores by cleaning under a table where there was a massive spider. I told me mom I couldnt clean by it because I was scared. She told me if I didnt that she would make me sleep under the table with it (she claims to not remember this).

Now my phobia is out of control, and I believe my parents made it worse by laughing it off. When you dont take this seriously at a young age it tends to get worse. Now I do things like scanning every room for spiders before I enter…

All this to say YTA. People dont get to pick their phobias and fears. Your daughter came to confide in you about hers and you laugh??? At my age now I can forgive my parents because I see they too did not understand what a phobia was or how it worked, but it totally impacted my trust of them around the subject until they proved they take it seriously.
