Yeah it will probably baffle a lot of people but Hitler got elected and then turned into a Dictator. Most of the people in the country voted for him and his party, because well his policies back then were popular.

The moment he got enough votes they abused some emergency laws to remove all legal rights and basically make hitler to a dictator.

I mean the party themselves also abused a lot of issues of the then democracy, and it didn't help that there wasn't a percentage hurdle so every party with the tiniest amount of votes got a seat.

The current german democracy system is similar to back then but with a lot of issues ironed out to prevent this kind of shit ever again.
