I am a heterosexual Christian who supports gay rights and I am as tired as you of discrimination.

I totally appreciate your support but I have some bones to pick with what you've said. Just to paraphrase what I've gathered to be your view points: your argument is basically that in the eyes of God all of us do stuff wrong so gay people shouldn't be put down because all of society does wrong things.

That argument isn't so bad, but it's really just a way of saying, "Well you're not so bad, we all do bad stuff." Kind of like saying, "Well it's not so bad that you're fat, we're all fat." ; I just want to point out that not all of us think there is actually anything wrong with being LBGT*. That kind of leads into my second thing.

You say that you're, "as tired as you of discrimination." when in reality there is no way that you could be. Like you said, we all do things that are abominations in the eyes of the lord, but us gay people are actively punished by society for who we are, and you are not. You are seen as normal and unproblematic. You don't know what it feels like to have things thrown at you from out of cars and called homophobic slurs while walking down the street. You don't have to face the threat of harm or death for being who you are in the face of an intolerant society. Some of us can't even die in peace because our funerals are being picketed, ( just a reminder: no one gave a shit when the Westboro Babtist Church was picketing gay funeral, but everyone went apeshit as soon as they targeted military families) Young Straight teens aren't the ones who are killing themselves because of discrimination.

Your support is so valued, and I'm not trying to be an asshole to you because you seem so genuine and sincere; but you need to remember that you are coming at this from a point of privilege and as someone who is unaffected you will NEVER be as tired of discrimination as I am. I'm not asking you to apologize for being Christian. None of this is your fault. It's that really object to the phrase, " I am as tired as you of discrimination" because you are not and will never be. I apologize for the wall of text and for being so intense. I just have a lot of feels about this. I don't want you to feel attacked, I just want you to understand where I'm coming from.

P.S : I know for a fact that I can't speak for anyone else but myself and I just want you to know this is just how I personally felt about it.
