No. It’s about I made sacrifices to get to 0-debt. You didn’t. But thanks to a magic wand we both end up in the same spot. The only difference is I’m still affected by the sacrifices I made and you’re not.

If you bought a new car instead of paying off your loans and I drove an old cheap car and paid off my loans. Then basically the government rewarded you with a new car and punished me for scrimping and saving with an old beater.

I get that this is an important problem but there are better solutions out there. Like lowering the cost of higher ed so you don’t have to take out big loans in the first place. Doing that would permanently solve the problem. A one-time pay out to debtors would not .
