An Irish news-item about our Dutch healthcare system transformation (2006) from a government run Medicare For All system, to the government just keeping an eye on it and helping out people in need with some extra funds.

Long story short: We pay roughly 7 percent of our income to healthcare, me as a single working person a monthly premium of around 100 euro/dollar. I can see my local doctor whenever I want and get my 2 dental checks a year covered. In case I have something severe, need mental help or medication, my own risk is 350 euro/dollar maximum per year. Very often when you need medication you only pay like 10 percent that it actually costs, so it's not like that 1 prescription will set you back on your own risk in one go.

Reason I write this is because of this topic about last nights episode of /r/lastweektonight with John Oliver that had as topic: Healthcare.

In case people missed it: here you can see the episode on my Google drive
