It's not just measles. Pertussis almost killed my mother, and could have killed me if I'd gotten it. How is that fear unjustified when whopping cough outbreaks were becoming more prevalent due to a lack of vaccination? We both have breathing issues. I couldn't be vaccinated for it until recently because I may have had a reaction to the old vaccine. I had a seizure. I am one of the people that was at risk from non vaccinated kids. Fortunately my doctor determined it was now safe for me to get the vaccine since the formula changed. Rubella can cause a miscarriage. Other illnesses can kill, and the fact that it's a small percentage is no comfort to the families of the dead. It's not excessive to say a non vaccinated kid is a public heath threat. We have outbreaks of disease that are happening now BECAUSE of unvaccinated kids. No. No sympathy here.
