Any diet that says avoid fruits and vegetables is not a diet for me but I have a question

I need to learn what macros are

In keto, the term macros is a common abbreviation for the Macronutrient Ratio of what you should be eating every day. As a baseline, it starts with the essential nutrients your body needs (essential, meaning your body can't make them and you can't do without them) and to that it adds additional allowances to stay within your caloric goals (whether losing, maintaining, or gaining weight).

is that like your meals you eat that are complete meals within the diet?

It's your daily partitions of your food goals. That means all that you ingest, including snacking and workout supplements, not just meals. You don't have to eat each individual meal precisely partitioned, nor is their a magic reset time each day. It's a pretty helpful guideline though, but bodies differ.

If you want to stay in a ketogenic state then you need to:

  • keep the carbs extremely low. it's key to maintaining a ketogenic state but not to health per se.

  • eat to meet your daily protein goals. Many of the essential nutrients can be found in protein, but too much will knock you out of ketosis.

  • eat enough fat to be satisfied. if you eat less (and are trying to lose weight) that's fine as well. Things marked as "low fat" in the grocery store often are filled with either chemicals or carbs (or both) so don't be afraid of the fat nutrient if you are hungry.

The sidebar contains information for the FAQ and a keto macro calculator. Since your posts to other forums (such as boogie2988 ) indicate that you are a vegan, you might also find some good ideas for recipes on the /r/vegetarianketo subreddit. While not everyone there is a vegan, it's easier to find folks who are good at cooking within vegetarian and vegan constraints.
